Ricki-Lee’s radio co-stars grill her for taking her own pillow to a hotel
Ricki-Lee Coulter has been grilled by her co-stars for taking a specific item with her to a Melbourne hotel during a recent trip.
Ricki-Lee Coulter has been grilled by her co-stars for turning up to a hotel with her own pillow.
There’s nothing more annoying than staying at a hotel only to discover that none of the multiple pillows on the bed are comfortable.
We’ve all been there; you put your head down on the pillow and suddenly the entire thing deflates. Or, it’s so high that you may as well sleep upright.
Singer and Nova radio host Ricki-Lee appears to have come up with a simple solution, but her co-stars Joel Creasy and Tim Blackwell weren’t having it.
“I discovered something about you, you travel with your own pillow,” Joel said on the trio’s program on Tuesday.
“Yeah I know, I feel like I have told you [guys] this so many times,” Ricki-Lee responded.
“Yeah you have, because I saw it with my own eyes,” a shocked Tim added.
Both Ricki-Lee and Tim Blackwell travelled from Sydney this week to catch up with Joel, who is based in the city and attend Rising — a music, food and arts festival.
And it was when she and Tim checked into their hotel that he learned about his co-stars pillow habit.
“My room was ready first and we were waiting, so I thought I’ll start unpacking my bags and I started fluffing up my pillow and he [Tim] said, ‘what are you doing, why are you fluffing up the pillows’ and I said ‘no, it’s my pillow!’”
Tim posted a photo of Ricki fixing her pillow on the hotel bed, joking that “This loser travels with her own pillow”.
But Ricki isn’t the only one to engage in such an act. One scroll through TikTok and you will find that many travellers do it.
Not only do they want a good night’s sleep, but they say it’s also for hygiene purposes.
But, as some have pointed out, it’s a bit unpractical when you’re travelling by air and restricted to a certain amount of kilos.
In a viral TikTok, a British man shared one way you can get around sh*t pillows in hotels.
“So you just got to the hotel room and this is the pillow,” he said, while holding a flat pillow with not much support.
“This is obviously not going to cut it. So all you need to do is this.
“Just take [the two pillows] both out of the case cover and stick them into one together.”
He advised that because it’s all in one case you’re going to get a much firmer pillow.
“Remember that fibre filling or feather is going to compress and that is going to give you a bit more support.”
