Prayers for Shane: Couple completes bucket list for unborn son after learning he may only live a few days
WHEN they were told their son may only live for a few days once born, this couple began a bucket list of places they wanted him to experience. This is their journey.
BABY Shane is already well-travelled, and he hasn’t even been born yet.
Soon after finding out about their pregnancy, Dan and Jenna Haley of Philadelphia were told that their unborn son has anencephaly.
Because of a neural tube defect, Shane’s skull and brain are not developing properly.
While doctors can’t know for sure what Shane’s quality of life will be or how long he will live, the Haleys are determined to make the most of the time they have with their son. Babies born with anencephaly normally survive a few days at the most.
The couple began a bucket list of places they wanted to take Shane.
Their Facebook page, Prayers for Shane, follows their travels leading up to the baby’s October 12 due date.
With last week’s visit to the Franklin Institute, the Haleys have completed their list and anxiously await Shane’s arrival.
Their page has over 250,000 likes. That’s a lot of prayers for Shane.
Here are some of their memorable moments.
