Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife have shared a chilling image showing how a deadly Aussie creature is able to hide out of sight under mud flats around the Top End.

The picture, shared on Facebook, shows a saltwater croc covered in mud to an extent only his yellow eyes can be seen poking out.

The picture of a crocodile covered in mud – taken by local man Rodney Fischer near the Northern Territory and West Australian border – shows just incredible the animal’s camouflaging abilities are.

“This is how I will die,” one wrote on the image. Another added “the mud has eyes!”

Saltwater crocs can be seen in waterways all over the Northern Territory, and grow up to six metres in length.

Some people said this is how they will die.

Tourists often flock to the Top End to go on tours to see the creatures in the wild. Sometimes looking like floating logs, crocs stay underwater for at least an hour and float with only eyes and nostrils exposed.

The croc isn’t the only animal that’s baffled the internet with its super camouflage talent.

The “world’s most elusive cat” was photographed perfectly camouflaged on mountain terrain among the rocks eagerly waiting to pounce.

And once you catch sight of it, you’ll wonder how you ever missed it.

The mind-boggling photo was taken high in the Himalayas in northeastern India.

Photographer Saurabh Desai began trekking in the Spiti Valley in 2019 with one mission.

“I was on my search of the world’s most elusive cat which is also known as ‘Grey Ghost’ in the popular local language,” he told My Modern Met.

After almost three years on the lookout, Desai finally managed to snap the brown leopard about eight kilometres from the high-altitude village of Kibber. And it appears the big cat saw him too, with its piercing eyes looking directly into the camera.
