The 33-year-old responded to a question from a follower about what her post-engagement truip to LA had been like, and the influencer’s response was not what many expected.

“Guys, LA was terrible! We went back because we loved it so much when we were there two years ago,” she began.

“It’s changed so much since Covid. The homelessness situation is so bad I can't even begin to describe it.

“We drove past a lifeless body face down in the gutter outside a gas station on Melrose … ppl (sic) driving and walking past it completely unbothered! It was horrific. I couldn’t eat for the rest of the day after seeing that. I felt sick.”

On Instagram, however, the reality star’s trip has looked pretty lush. With nights out at Craig’s in West Hollywood and even Kim Kardashian’s favourite restaurant Nobu in Malibu.

But given the city’s increased crime rate, she and her fiance Mr Brunelli felt uneasy most of the time they were in California.

Martha said her trip to LA has not been wroth it.

“The crime rate is up 300%,” she explained in the social media story.

“Every Uber driver told us to beware, don’t wear anything too flashy because people have been getting robbed at gunpoint.

“Nowhere is safe … even Beverly Hills is super dangerous and experiencing violence crimes daily.”

In response to their experience, Ms Kalifatidis and Mr Brunelli cut their trip short and advised other dabbling in planning an overseas trip to sit tight.

“We had planned to do 10 days in NYC but we’ve cancelled,” she explained.

“We looked at going to London for the 10 days and maybe doing a few days in Paris but due to Covid we can’t risk it.

“The truth is it’s just not a good time to travel. WE thought we would be fine, we didn’t want Covid to rile our lives so we went O/S. It’s been nice getting away but I wouldn’t recommend travelling out of Australia at all right now. After seeing the mess in the USA I feel so grateful for where we live.”

And she wasn’t alone, with hoards of followers agreeing with her shock at the state of the USA.

“I moved from Aus to Chicago on (sic) August and le me tell you … I’m sooo scared here,” one follower posted.

“I spent a night in LA when I arrived and called my partner crying as I was so devastated by the homelessness and how out of control it has become.”

Another said they were in the city for six weeks, but left after being held at “gun point” and had a Rolex watch stolen.

“So scary … I used to love LA but not anymore.”

This month, reports indicated that all areas under the Los Angeles Police Department jurisdiction saw a rapid increase in crime, with 2020 having some of the highest figures of crime the Los Angeles region had seen in about a decade with the current percentages for 2021 even higher than 2020 figures.
