Jules Undersea Lodge in Florida, USA, is the world’s only hotel for scuba divers

IMAGINE staying at a hotel where the only way to reach your room was to scuba dive 21 feet underwater.

This is the Jules Undersea Lodge in Florida, USA, a former research laboratory in Key Largo that has been turned into a hotel room for two with hot showers, a kitchen, a phone to call land and an unusual room service.

But don’t expect five star luxury, this hotel looks and feels like a long lost time capsule. Staying here is all about the experience.

This looks straight out of a 1980s commercial.

The lounge room has dining and entertainment areas and each of the two bedrooms features a 42 inch round window for you to gaze at the underwater life of the Emerald Lagoon.

You must be a qualified scuba diver to stay here and guests enter the lodge via a wet room that is filled with compressed air to prevent water from flooding in.

The best bit? You can order pizza to be delivered to your door thanks to the local pizza shop who will send a scuber diver down with your margherita.

If pizza’s not your thing, you can book a personal chef to dive down and prepare your dinner instead.

According to the hotel website, celebrity guests include rock stars Steve Tyler from Aerosmith and Jon Fishman of Phish as well as former Canadian Prime Minster Pierre Trudeau.

Guests have the choice of staying overnight for around $860 or taking the three-hour tour for $160.
