IT’S not often an airline worker makes the headlines for the right reasons, but not everyone is Dan Cooper.

A JETSTAR employee is being hailed a “legend” after his good deed on a tram in Melbourne inspired an onlooker to track him down on social media.

Sophia Czegel took to Jetstar’s Facebook page this week to report the man “wearing a black Jetstar logo shirt” who she had just seen carrying out a “beautiful act of kindness” on the 109 tram.

“I had got on the tram on Victoria Parade and the young gentleman had offered his seat to me,” Sophia said.

“He then went on to help a lady with all her luggage. The lady who said she was homeless seemed to be quiet lost and needed to get to the train station.

“Your employee had provided the lady with some money, water and directions. He then assisted her over to the Southern Cross station with all her luggage.”

Sophia went on to say she had only been in Melbourne for a short time but was “so touched by the way your employee has treated a complete stranger”.

“I hope you could somehow pass this on to the relevant person and thank him for showing a great act of kindness,” she said.

The staffer was quickly identified as Dan Cooper who worked in Jetstar’s Operational Control Centre in at its Collingwood office.

“It was no surprise when we found out this random act of kindness came from Dan,” Jetstar’s manager of customer operations Phil Besim told news.com.au.

“He’s constantly recognised by his peers as someone who goes above and beyond to assist customers in his day to day role, and this genuine care for others clearly extends outside of business hours too.

“We’re proud to have him as part of the Jetstar team, and happy we could track him down as the mystery man in the black polo.”

Sophia’s original Facebook post has since attracted waves of praise for Dan, with people praising him for showing “genuine care and compassion” and for being a “legend”.

But it also inspired a heartfelt post from Dan’s mum Rhonda, who also took to Facebook to give him a good rap.

“I can never praise him anymore highly and show pics of him to everyone I talk to and tell how loving and caring he is,” she wrote.

“Last night he rang me to tell me how he helped a poor lady on the tram as he felt so sorry for her … Someone on the tram noticed him wearing his uniform and wrote on Jetstars Page. “Dan keep being the most amazing beautiful son and never change. I’m so proud of you.”
