Furious couple stay in Melbourne during Taylor Swift concert weekend
A couple who were recently in Melbourne when Taylor Swift was in town took to TikTok to unleash about the trip, but their post has backfired.
A couple who accidentally stayed in Melbourne on the same weekend that Taylor Swift was in town say the decision was a “huge mistake”.
Taking to TikTok, Lucie Russell had travelled from the scenic Great Ocean Road into the chaos of the city with her partner Josh, not realising how busy it would be with Swiftie fans.
As a result, the pair were forced to book a “dirty” hostel room above a pub following their last-minute decision, adding it was a “huge mistake”.
“We never wanted to stay in Melbourne, but we booked our car rental first then decided that we were going to go to Canberra,” Lucie explained of the situation.
“But the train to Canberra is in the morning, so we had to stay in Melbourne for the night.”
Upon arrival, Lucie admitted they quickly realised what they’d arrived in to — and found accommodation was a “nightmare” to book at the last minute.
“We had such a nightmare finding accommodation for tonight because everything was so expensive,” Lucie said, claiming they had searched ‘what’s on’ in Melbourne and nothing about Taylor Swift was mentioned.
“So we’ve ended up staying in a pretty shi**y hostel … it’s so dirty. We are in a 12-bed dorm and it’s just not our vibe. We are not budget backpackers anymore.”
The tourist duo then took aim at the crowds — as more than 280,000 fans descended into the city over the course of the three performances.
“If the accommodation situation wasn’t bad enough, everywhere was heaving with people,” Lucie complained.
“So we just got a meal deal and headed to the beer garden and then some guy started smoking and was blowing it in our face … so we ended up just eating in a very hot smelly room and went to bed.”
Rather than receive sympathy for their less than enjoyable experience, the pair were totally roasted for their apparent “bad planning”, with branding the duo “sooks”.
“Melbourne is literally the most fun city in the world. I’m sorry you were too miserable to enjoy what this amazing city has to offer,” one person wrote.
“There is literally not a chance you googled what was happening in Melbourne during the month of Feb and it didn’t show Taylor Swift,” another added.
“I recommend be more organised before coming to Melbourne,” one suggested.
“The struggle is real. We are here for you.”
