Flight attendant’s unusual act divides

It’s not something you would expect from a flight attendant with his act upon landing copping some flak.

A flight attendant for United Airlines cheerfully played the violin after touching down in California – but his behaviour fell flat for some critics.

The unnamed crew member pulled out his instrument upon landing in San Francisco to welcome travellers to the Bay Area, playing a cheery tune as people got up to disembark from the flight.

His quick performance was met with a round of applause from passengers in the cabin.

“It was a definite pleasant surprise and welcome change compared to all the news we hear from airlines these days,” wrote a Redditor who posted a clip of the performance online.

While some viewers agreed it was “lovely” and “awesome,” the overwhelming praise fell onto deaf ears.

Critics claimed the behaviour as “unsettling,” calling the flight attendant “self-indulgent”.

“What a sly move,” snarked one user. “He has everyone sitting, captivated by his music, while he slowly walks down the aisle with anyone in his way and exiting the plane first.”

“Just because I’m trapped and sitting doesn’t mean I have any desire to be serenaded,” agreed another.

“This would be annoying as hell,” wrote someone else. “Can’t imagine breaking out into song on any instrument on a flight.”

“Honestly I’d struggle not to tell him to sit down and shut the f**k up,” an additional Redditor raged.

Some, however, jumped to the crew member’s defence.

“Of course super mean people as usual telling him to sit down and shut up,” scolded one, who told critics to “hush if it bothers you so much”.

“My guess is he actually likes the passengers and is very friendly and kind,” they continued, praising the crew member for trying to “entertain passengers.”

“Not like he’s making much with working at one of the lowest paying mainlines. Yet he has a good attitude despite it.”
