Family kicked off American Airlines flight over body odour complaints
This family is furious after they were suddenly booted off a flight following a strange complaint by their fellow passengers.
A couple and their 19-month-old daughter claim they were booted from their American Airlines after passengers complained about their body odour.
Yossi Adler, his wife Jennie and their daughter were on their way home to Detroit from a family holiday in Miami on Wednesday when they were suddenly taken off their flight.
“All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, ‘Sorry, sir, some people complained you had body odour and we’re not letting you back on’,” Mr Adler told Miami’s WPLG Local 10 News.
The family was told their luggage would be removed from the plane but it didn’t happen.
“They have our car seat, stroller, everything,” Jennie Adler said.
The Adlers were told to return to Miami International Airport on Thursday for a new flight back to Detroit.
In a statement to Local 10 News, American Airlines confirmed that the family’s smell was indeed the reason they were booted from the plane.
“Mr Adler and his wife were removed from the flight when several passengers complained about their body odour,” a statement from the airline read.
“They have been booked into a hotel for the night and given meal vouchers. They have been rebooked on a flight Thursday.”
Mrs Adler said after being removed from the flight, they approached people in the airport terminal to ask them if they smelled.
“We stopped several people in the airport and, it’s embarrassing, but we asked them, ‘Do you think we smell? Because we just got kicked off a plane for smelling,” she said.
Mr Adler said he wanted to know the real reason they were kicked off the plane.
“I want them to own up to what really happened and to tell me the truth,” he said. “What was it?”
“There’s no body odour that we have,” he added. “There’s nothing wrong with us.”
