Horrified holidaymakers have shared skin-crawling footage of a swarm of moths almost completely covering their hotel room in Thailand.

Jemma Sayer posted the video to TikTok showing the terrifying display of thousands of moths sitting on her bed, tangled up in its mosquito net, and flying around the room, as a hotel employee attempted to swat them with a bat.

She explained that she had opened the door late at night, when she was met with a huge snake which barrelled into the room along with a swarm of moths.

“When you check into your hotel and open the door at night and a killer snake launches at you and over 2000 moths fly in,” Ms Sayer wrote on TikTok.

“Just to clarify we didn’t just leave the door wide open, we opened the door for a split second to go out and this jungle of moths and a snake entered our room.

“We locked ourselves in the bathroom and called the hotel reception and a man came running in with a bat.”

The original TikTok has now reached 483,000 views, with thousands of comments, many asking where the video was taken so as to avoid taking a holiday there.

One commenter wrote, “how you are all standing in that room still I don’t even know,” as Ms Sayer and her best friend can be seen standing inside the moth infested room taking the now viral video.

Ms Sayer replied: “It wasn’t by choice we had to pack all our stuff and leave.”

Another commenter wrote, “Open the door at night [and] insects or some reptiles will come, especially [in the] rainy season, nobody [should] open the door at night.”
