It was a devastating start to 2023 for Aussie mum Honey Ahimsa with her baby girl fighting for her life in Bali. But things are looking up.
It was a devastating start to 2023 for Aussie mum Honey Ahimsa and her husband Pan with their baby girl fighting for her life in Bali. But five months on baby Lucky is “happy and healthy” and the young family have moved back to Bali.
The pair, who live in Bali with their two children, were told their youngest, Lucky, had a 50/50 chance of survival after she fell severely ill on the island without the medical resources to treat her condition.
Baby Lucky’s fight for survival captivated hearts around the country and with the help of fellow Aussies, almost $200,000 was raised to get the family of four on a medevac flight to Brisbane, to get Lucky the help she needed.
Staff diagnosed the two-month-old with sepsis, severe pneumonia, lung failure and RSV-bronchiolitis with Ms Ahimsa describing the month of February as the “hardest of her life”.
More than a week after the nailbiting medical evacuation, Ms Ahimsa shared an emotional update that baby Lucky was breathing on her own without a ventilator and is fully conscious.
“We have gone from being told she’s not going to make it, to a 50/50 chance, to having our baby back!” she said at the time.
Almost six months on from the horrifying ordeal, Ms Ahimsa revealed baby Lucky is “healthy, happy and thriving”.
The wellness influencer, who is originally from Melbourne, also revealed her family is back in Bali and with the excitmentment announced they are renovating their home.
“We have faced obstacle after obstacle but without further ado we finally get to share our soon to be home with you,” she said in an Instagram post on Thursday.
“We found an old/run down Balinese house and very slowly, with lots of breaks and tears we are now back and starting the renovating process again!!!
“Our family are warriors and everything we have gone through, THIS is such a triumphant feeling. Our first home.”
She said she “cried” making the video, adding that she is “so proud” of her family.
“We deserve ‘days like this’.”
The clip shows Ms Ahimsa walking inside the property and hugging the builder, with baby Lucky strapped to her chest.
The emotional video has attracted a string of positive comments from Ms Ahimsa’s followers saying how “happy” they are for the family.
“Congratulations!!!!! You All So Much Deserve a Safe Sacred Space,” one person wrote.
“SO HAPPY. I can’t wait to follow you through this new journey. Love this for you and your fam!!” wrote another, while a third added: “Oh how amazing for you all! Can’t wait to see it come to life.”
Ms Ahimsa has since shared several posts thanking followers for their positive messages and to those who helped contribute in saving baby Lucky’s life.
“The moment we all prayed forï¸ BABY GIRL leaving the hospital. SHE DID IT, WE DID IT. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You a million times over,” she said in a post alongside a sweet photo of Lucky.
Ms Ahimsa said she was overwhelmed by the show of love and generous support from the Australian community who rallied around Baby Lucky when she most needed it.
“A scary reminder that every moment is a gift that should be appreciated with full presence and love,” Ms Ahimsa said at the time.
“Hold your children, friends, all loved ones, tell them you love them, put down your phone and don’t take a second for granted.
“I will never be able to express how we witnessed your prayers work in action and felt all of the energy being sent our way the past three weeks.”
