Singer Bebe Rexha sobs after being banned from flight

The pop star tearfully claimed she was threatened by an airport security agent in what she says was a “hate crime” after she made an innocent move.

Bebe Rexha tearfully claimed she was “threatened” by an airport security agent for speaking Albanian.

“I’ve been threatened because I thought the security agent was Albanian. I spoke to him in Albanian asking where to get my ticket and now he’s banning me from the flight,” the 34-year-old captioned an Instagram video of herself crying.

After posting another clip of herself crying in the airport to her Instagram Stories, Rexha continued, “I believe this to be a hate crime because I am Albanian. He would not let me take his name. He continued to mentally abuse me to make me feel like he was more powerful then [sic] he was.”

“Not one of the women at @Lufthansa stepped in or said something. He would not give me his name but I just found out he works for ATSG a service company document control hired by Lufthansa.”

She also reposted another story from a fan account advocating for her.

“Please make sure @BebeRexha makes it home safe. @Munichairport please investigate the male officer who threatened a woman @beberexha for speaking Albanian pull your cameras,” Instagram user Bukie Rexha posted.

The emotional reveal comes only a few weeks after Rexha vented her frustrations with the music industry on social media. The singer said she’s been “silenced” and “undermined” for years.

“I am frustrated. I have been undermined,” the singer wrote on X.

She continued, “I’ve been so quiet for the longest time. I haven’t seen the signs even though people constantly are bringing them up and they have been so obvious”.

Rexha went on to tell her followers that “things must change” or she’ll soon be “telling all of [her] truths”, which would “bring down a big chunk” of the industry.

“The good the bad and the ugly,” she said.

“I’m sitting in my hotel room in London crying my eyes out,” she followed up with another post.

“I’ve felt hopeless for the longest time. I’ve been walking a lot through this city and meeting fans and they have really ignited something inside of me.”

Lufthansa was contacted for comment and a spokesperson said: “We reached out to Bebe Rexha and are in direct contact with her to understand the situation.

“As an international airline, we connect people and countries around the globe. Our guests and employees come from all over the world. Diversity and equal opportunity are core values for our company and our corporate culture. We do not tolerate any discriminatory behaviour of any kind.”
