Qantas plane makes emergency landing over fuel concerns during flight from Perth to Adelaide
A Qantas plane between two major Australian cities was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilots were alerted to an issue.
A Qantas flight from Perth to Adelaide was forced to make an emergency landing at a regional airport on Monday night because of an issue with the plane’s fuel.
Flight QF888 diverted to Kalgoorlie less than two hours after the Boeing 737 took off at 5.15pm local time after the pilots were alerted to a potential issue with the aircraft’s fuel system.
“The Captain followed procedure to divert to the nearest airport where the aircraft landed without incident. Engineers are inspecting the aircraft today,” a Qantas spokesman told NCA NewsWire.
Passengers were flown back to Perth on a replacement aircraft and provided overnight accommodation.
They will travel to Adelaide today.
“We apologise for the disruption to last night’s flight. Safety is always our top priority,” the spokesman said.
