Plane passenger has ‘satanic’ episode sparking emergency U-turn
A flight has descended into chaos after a passenger swallowed rosary beads and kicked a flight attendant across the airplane aisle.
An American Airlines flight to Miami was forced to make an emergency U-turn after a manic passenger became convinced that demonic spirits followed him onto the plane.
Less than a minute after the flight took off from Savannah, 31-year-old Delange Augustin, began “yelling and shaking” in what the crew initially assumed was a seizure.
It turned out he was struggling because he believed a demonic spirit had invaded the cabin and was stowed away close by.
According to the arrest affidavit, a concerned crew member went to check on Augustin, only to be kicked so hard that they flew across the aisle of the plane and hit the wall.
It was around this time that Augustin began swallowing rosary beads in an attempt to ward the alleged spirit off.
As the mid-air situation became increasingly more hostile, pilots made the decision to turn the plane around and land safely in Savannah. But that was not where it all ended.
Mr Augustin then stormed to the front of the aircraft where flight attendants were attempting to safely deboard other passengers.
He began throwing wild punches at a crew member before fellow passengers wrangled him to the floor screaming, “get the cops”.
