Plane makes emergency landing after passenger reportedly attempts suicide in bathroom

A plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger reportedly tried to take his own life in the bathroom.

A flight from Thailand to the UK was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger attempted suicide inside the plane’s bathroom, according to reports.

EVA Air Flight BR67 from Bangkok was in the middle of its descent into London’s Heathrow Airport on Friday when cabin crew members realised that a passenger was still occupying the rest room, the New York Post reports.

When they went to check on the man, they discovered that he might have attempted to take his own life, according to The Sun.

It was unclear how the unidentified traveller allegedly tried to harm himself mid-flight, or what might have triggered it.

Crew members and an on-board doctor administered first aid to the passenger.

The jet landed around 7.30pm local time and was met by medics who rushed the passenger to a hospital for further treatment, according to the publication.

There was no immediate word on his condition as of Monday.

EVA Air, one of Taiwan’s largest air carriers, confirmed the incident, the Sun said. The airline did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for comment Monday.
