Plane at busy airport catches fire as passengers evacuate onto wing
Scenes of chaos unfolded at a major airport when a plane burst into flames, forcing passengers to evacuate onto the wing.
An American Airlines plane suddenly burst into flames at Denver International Airport on Thursday night (local time), forcing evacuating passengers onto the wing of the aircraft as thick black smoke consumed the tarmac, NY Post reported.
No injuries were reported after the frightening fire erupted on the passenger plane that was parked at Gate C38 of the Colorado airport, officials told KDVR.
“Passengers were evacuated and the slides were deployed,” the airport said.
Videos shared on social media shows flames and smoke consuming the aircraft as airport crews worked to extinguish the frightening blaze.
Another video from inside the airport also showed passengers standing on the wing of the aircraft as smoke billowed.
It’s not clear how the fire started.
The Denver Airport and the FAA did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
