Man who sneaked onto plane to surprise girlfriend foiled by cockpit selfies

A ROMANIAN man’s misguided attempt at romance has come undone, all because of a vain impulse.

Claudiu-Gabriel Costin sneaked onto a Wizz Air plane bound for London in an apparent attempt to see his girlfriend.

After successfully sneaking past security and making it onto the tarmac, he managed to board the empty plane.

It was an evening flight and while Mr. Costin was aided by the cover of darkness, his adventure was particularly embarrassing for Romania’s international airport as security was on high alert due to a recent jailbreak involving a dangerous escapee.

However, as the 30-year-old hid waiting for the flight to leave, he got bored and decided to take some selfies in the cockpit.

This is where his criminal mastery comes to an end as the Romanian was promptly arrested after officials noticed his phone’s flash emanating from the cockpit.

Claudiu-Gabriel Costin had some strange reasons to sneak onto an empty plane.

According to the Romanian Times, Mr Costin just wanted to see his girlfriend in London.

“I haven’t seen her for weeks now and I miss her very much so I decided that no matter what, I would go and see her,” he said.

However after his initial confession the story gets even stranger.

Mr Costin then reportedly changed his tune and told officials that he was actually invited to the cockpit by a pilot who inexplicably offered him sexual favours.

“I was just wandering around when a pilot appeared and told me to get inside the cockpit and he’d do me a favour ... I didn’t understand what he meant but then he got his penis out,” he told local authorities.

However an airport official denied the claim saying “there was no sign of any pilot”.

At this stage it is unclear what penalty Mr Costin will face and while his Facebook page states that he is a life coach, presumably this will be one of those lessons he keeps to himself.

The airport has been contacted for comment.
