CROWNE Plaza Hunter Valley is set to undergo a major makeover, with a new brewery and distillery, renovation of rooms and an extension to the restaurant.
More than $5 million will be invested into the property by the Schwartz Family Company, which bought the hotel last year.
The work is due to be complete by the end of next year.
The hotel will become the centre of operations for the Schwartz family's Sydney Brewing Company, with a 300sq m brewery, micro distillery and cellar door to be built as part of its main complex.
A bigger, purpose-built craft brewery and distillery will be established on 41ha of newly-acquired land next to the property in the next two years.
The 150 hotel rooms and 169 villas will also be refurbished and there will also be improvements to the 18-hole golf course and expansion of the kid's club which already has a children's train and 22-horse carousel.
Intercontinental Hotels Group will continue to manage the hotel after signing a 10-year agreement with the new owners.
