Video hints at height but just how tall will the world's new tallest waterslide Verruckt be? No one knows
IT has already claimed the title of world's tallest waterslide - but no one knows just how high "Verruckt" will actually be.
IT has already claimed the title of the world's tallest waterslide - but no one knows just how "Verruckt" will actually be.
Still, a video of the under-construction slide gives an idea of the dizzying heights of the new ride to be opened in the coming months at Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark in the US.
What we do know is Verruckt - which means insane in German - is set to see four riders on a specially designed raft plummet down the equivalent of a drop from a 17-storey building.
But first, there's a 264-stair climb to get to the top.
It's taller than Niagara Falls, taller than the Statue of Liberty from her toes to the torch. It's twice the height of the tallest wave ever surfed.
However, the exact height won't be revealed until a special measuring ceremony ahead of its scheduled opening in May.
But to achieve the record, it will have to be at least 50m high, as the current world's tallest slide - Kilimanjaro at Aguas Quentes Country Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - stands at a frightening height of 49.9m.
Kilimanjaro has held the record since 2002.
Verruckt was developed by waterpark innovator "Wizard of Water" Jeff Henry, who has previously brought inland water surfing, uphill water coasters and endless tube rides to the industry.
The Henry family operates four Schlitterbahn parks across the US.
