Snow falls in Ballarat and locals wander around in shorts. This is Australia’s toughest city
BALLARAT, we salute you, you tough pack of fearless buggers. It’s snowing outside but do you cower like wimps? You do not.
BALLARAT, we salute you.
Ballarat, while most of southeast Australia shivers pathetically against the Antarctic blast we told you about yesterday, you carry on like it’s just any old day, you tough buggers, you.
In some parts of the country they call off school when it’s a bit too hot or cold. Pfffft. You guys walk into your freezer of a playground wearing shorts, yes shorts, because you’re way too tough to wear wimpy long pants in a FULL-ON BLIZZARD, right?

Ballarat, most people would take their nice horses into a warm stable when it’s chucking down flakes of fresh snow from the sky, but you tough bastards say “No way horsey, we’re going for a run!” In fact, you probably do an extra lap just to get the horse BALLARAT TOUGH.
Which is much tougher than normal tough.

And if any horse dares complain about a bit of soft, downy snow the likes of which never hurt anyone, well, they can just wear it like a horsey blanket, CAN’T THEY BALLARAT? God we love you guys.

Even THE MEERKATS ARE TOO TOUGH to hide down their meerkat hidey holes in Ballarat.

When it snows in Ballarat, they don’t make softie friendly snowmen. They make hard, mean ICEMEN with razor-sharp carrots for noses, don’t they. Because that’s just HOW AUSTRALIA’S TOUGHEST CITY BALLARAT ROLLS, ISN’T IT.

You call this a blizzard. BALLARAT CALLS IT DANDRUFF.

Ballarat is a town that understands that when a bit of snow comes to town, it is time to frolic, not moan. ABC Melbourne, who tweeted this pic, might not think it’s a great day to be a dog in Ballarat, but that’s because they’re soft, namby-pamby city types WHO DON’T GET WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A TOUGH BALLARAT DOG, are we right? Woof.

The only mystery is why, in such a tough town, no one has started a game of snow footy yet on the field behind this car?

Need we remind you Ballarat that the NRL once played an entire game in snow? Are you saying those thugby league players from up north are tougher than you. WELL ARE YOU, BALLARAT?
Now get out there and play some football, for the honour of your town.
Oh by the way, the cold weather is supposed to stick around for the rest of the day, then gradually ease this weekend.
EXCEPT IN BALLARAT. NOTHING’S EVER EASY IN BALLARAT, RIGHT?
