How to maximise your annual leave in 2017

WANT to get the most out of your holidays next year? Here are the days you need to book to get the most out of your annual leave in 2017.

CHRISTMAS is around the corner, and before you know it New Year will have passed and you’ll be back in your desk for another year.

However, there are always holidays to look forward to and if you are clever you can turn a few days leave into a much longer break.

Analysts at finder.com.au say by choosing your dates wisely, you can turn 20 days of allotted time off into significantly more and who doesn’t want to spend more time at the beach?

Figures vary from state-to-state, however, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT came out on top with a maximum of 56 days to take a break.

Next was the Northern Territory, with 55 days, and Western Australia with 53.

“Taking annual leave around public holidays can really pay off and turn a few days into a week-long holiday,” said finder.com.au money expert Bessie Hassan.

“There will be plenty of travel deals around Boxing Day and in January, so think about how you can maximise your precious annual leave days to have a solid break.”

Basically, analysts made a list of the public holidays on offer in each state and combined them with the standard 20 days of annual leave to make the most of the weekends either side.

The maximum number of days off is a combination of the three.
