IT’S Friday afternoon — when we all start to get a little bit excited for the weekend, and when we start counting down the minutes until happy hour, wine time, beer o’clock.

Forget the local pub up the road, this is where we want to be this Friday evening.

Perched on a cliff face 14 metres above the Indian Ocean sits Rock Bar, part of the Ayana Resort and Spa in Bali. Accessed via an inclinator that traverses the cliff face, it’s our Friday afternoon pick for a drink.

Looking out over Jimbaran Bay, this open top bar is known for its epic sunset views and has been voted one of the world’s best bars by CNN, Forbes Travel and The New York Times.

This exclusive bar takes its drinking seriously. There’s a dress code for entry — no singlet, boardshorts or alcohol-branded attire (leave the Bintang singlets at home). And its signature cocktail, the Rockatonic, looks refreshingly good.

While the local pub will have to suffice for most of us, we thought this might get you a little bit more excited for Friday night.
