How to party in the snow like a pro
LARA Bingle joined actress Emma Lung, TV presenter Laura Csortan and chef Hayden Quinn on the slopes over the weekend proving the snow is still the place to party in winter.
A SELF-confessed tomboy, Lara Bingle swapped bikinis for snowboarding boots at an exclusive ski event in Thredbo over the weekend.
“I am such a tomboy and always did sporty things with my brothers growing up, so I just love getting out there as everyone else parties hard," Bingle told news.com.au.
A mad-keen snowboarder Bingle turned out to be one of the most subdued guests at the annual Clicquot In The Snow event on the weekend.
Gearing up for a photo shoot this week, Bingle avoided too many bubbles and was usually one of the first on the slopes early each morning.
“I have a really big shoot this week so I just need to look my best," she said.
Bingle joined actress Emma Lung, TV presenter Laura Csortan and ski and surf-mad chef Hayden Quinn on the slopes.
Quinn, a Masterchef success story, created a picnic menu of lobster, oysters, sushi, and "lot of things on sticks".
“We had to make things that are easy to eat," said the sporty kitchen king. "When you have gloves on and your other hand is wrapped around a champagne glass, you need something easy to eat."
Guests lapped up the flowing champagne on offer. Founder of socialdiary.com.au Tiffany Farrington said she was "blown away" by some people's stamina to party at the snow.
"A pair of great sunglasses and a strong constitution is what’s needed to get you through," she said. "I am usually a sun holiday girl but I am loving this whole snow thing. I will be back."
Tips for partying in the snow:
*Drink lots and lots of water to counter dehydration and excess alcohol consumption;
*Always travel with a batch of Berocca in your cosmetic kit to avoid a hangover on the slopes the next day;
*Wear leather and faux fur when you head out at night to stay warm;
*Leave your heels at home and opt for a cool pair of wedges or boots to avoid slipping on the ice;
*Invest in good quality sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare and disguise your hangover;
*Layer, layer, layer as the snow is a place where you are constantly stripping up and down. In the nicest possible way!
