Where to watch FIFA Women’s World Cup across Australia
The FIFA Women’s World Cup officially kicks off on July 20, but if you can’t get to a game, fear not, there’s plenty of pubs showing it.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup officially kicks off on Thursday, July 20 with then opening between Australia vs Ireland.
The tournament will be held until August 20 across Australia and New Zealand with all 32 teams carrying the same dream — to play the final at the Sydney Olympic Stadium on August 20, and get their hands on the coveted title.
If you can’t get to any of the matches, fear not as there’s plenty of venues across Australia showing the games.
Here’s a breakdown – but be sure to call your local to confirm they’re showing the games before you head out.
SYDNEY
The Star Sydney 24/7 Sports Bar – The Star’s 24/7 Sports Bar is a popular location to watch live football action. There are more than 50 LCD TVs, a huge LED screen, and a menu featuring plenty of hearty American-inspired pub favourites
York 75 – This classic sports bar is located right in the heart of the CBD on, you guessed it, York Street. With private booths, personal LED screens, drinks offers and plenty of pub grub, York 75 could be just what you’re looking for
Barangaroo House – House Bar at Barangaroo House will have screens up and showing all the games. With the Unity Pitch nearby along the waterfront, fans can expect Barangaroo to be filled with excited supporters throughout the tournament
The Golden Sheaf – The Double Bay venue will be showing the action on its giant Sports Bar and Garden screens and offering a range of food and drink specials. Fans can book tables at this heritage-listed, Art Deco hotel for all football games by heading to the venue’s website
Coogee Pavilion – With its beachside location, the ever-popular Coogee Bay Hotel is a great place to catch the action live and loud. It’s showing all games in the Sports Bar and key games will be aired inside and on its huge TV in the garden
Clock Hotel – The Clock in Surry Hills will be screening every Matilda’s game live and loud with free margaritas for the first Matilda’s goal scored across every match. To be eligible, you need to complete the form online, show your confirmation email (or a screenshot of it) to staff on arrival and collect your wristband, then when they score show your wristband
The Marlborough Hotel – ‘The Marly’ as it’s affectionately known by locals will be showing all Matildas games across the entire venue. You’ll find fried chicken, burgers, mains and snacks, plus plenty of plant-based options on the menu, so it’s a great spot to grab a bite to eat too
Public House Petersham – With a large beer garden, wood-fired pizzas and an extensive range of craft beers and wines, Public House Petersham is a great place to get together and watch the game. It will be playing every match upon request and fans can jump online to book a table in advance
The Oaks Hotel – Neutral Bay’s The Oaks Hotel is one of Sydney’s most popular pubs and is made up of several venues in one. Taffy’s Sports Bar will be broadcasting the action and serving up a delicious winter menu, including pizzas and burgers, plus a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits, plus a tempting selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic options
4 Pines Truck Bar – Head over to this popular Northern Beaches brewery’s HQ in Brookvale for a huge selection of craft beers, brewed right next to where you’re drinking them. The Truck Bar kitchen has a range of food options, including burgers, bowls, subs and buffalo wings, plus foosball and that all-important big screen
MELBOURNE
Melbourne Central Lion Hotel – This old-style English pub located on La Trobe Street will be showing every game across more than 15 screens. Its kitchen offers an array of dishes including burgers, pizzas and parmas. What’s a better mix than live sport and delicious burgers?
The Imperial, Bourke Street – It’s one of the oldest pubs in Melbourne, and home to some spectacular views as its rooftop overlooks the city. It’s a popular destination for fans of the EPL, Liverpool supporters in particular. It too will be showing the Women’s World Cup matches, with 21 screens to choose from.
The Grace Darling Hotel – The Grace Darling is one of the only bluestone pubs in Melbourne – a maze of tiny rooms and hidden nooks. It will be showing the games.
The Carringbush Hotel – Located in Abbotsford Victoria, this pub, known for its vegan menu, will be playing all the matches until the tournament is over, in August.
BRISBANE
The Caxton Hotel – Located just a short walk from Suncorp Stadium, The Caxton Hotel is one of the most popular sports bars in Brisbane. You can expect them to be showing all the matches
The Pineapple Hotel – Located a stone’s throw from the Gabba, the Piney is guaranteed to bring the energy whenever the Matildas are playing. The Piney also serves up a mean feed
WingHAÜS, CBD – There’s 20-plus screens scattered throughout, so you can’t go wrong. It’s got a South American vibe and is known for its fried wings.
ADELAIDE
The Ramsgate Hotel – It’s got sports bar vibes by the seaside. So if that’s what you’re after, then head there to watch the tournament
The Elephant British Pub – As the name suggests, The Elephant British Pub is distinctly British, which makes it a great place for watching the Premier League. In this case it will also be showing the Women’s World Cup.
DARWIN
