Only one McDonald’s like this in entire world
This nation has a special McDonald’s that is the only one of its kind in the world.
Sitting on a canal in Germany is a McDonald’s that is the only one of its kind in the world.
Named the McBoat, the Hamburg store features a dock on the water where customers can order and pick up their fast food without leaving their boat.
When news.com.au visited the store last week the area was quiet. We spotted one German family of four casually picking up lunch.
However, videos on social media from summer time show tourists embracing the novelty of a float-through McDonald’s by travelling through on paddle boards and blow-up boats.
Some visit this particular restaurant by foot just to sit on the dock and watch the boat drive-through in action.
How it works is customers order on the McDonald’s app and an employee will bring the food to the water.
From the street, the store looks like any other McDonald’s with a McCafe, playground and drive-through for cars (AKA “McDrive”). It is open 24 hours.
On the extensive menu there are classics like the Big Mac, McCrispy and Filet-O-Fish, but also unique items like The M, featuring two German beef patties, fried onions, cheese, pickles, lettuce and a “special” creamy sauce.
Even the McCrispy varies slightly. Unlike in Australia, the McCrispy at McBoat has a seeded bun and cheese. There are plenty of meat-free alternatives too, including a McPlant burger and McPlant nuggets, made with Beyond Meat. Under the sauces, listed next to sweet and sour, is the option of curry sauce.
As for pricing, which country is cheaper depends on what you are ordering. Menu prices also vary by McDonald’s location in Australia.
A Big Mac at McBoat in Hamburg is $10 compared to $7.55 on one menu news.com.au viewed down under, a McCrispy is $10.40 vs $9.15, a Filet-O-Fish is $5.20 vs $6.75, and six nuggets are $9.30 vs $8.30. A McFlurry is $5.20 vs $5.
Not far from the McBoat in Hamburg is another McDonald’s with an order window by the footpath for bikes.
