Aussie left shocked by KFC menu items in Bali
An Aussie was left rather impressed by KFC in Bali – but there was one item that’s left some baffled.
An Aussie influencer holidaying in Bali couldn’t help but try KFC on the popular island to see how it compares to Australia — and he was left pleasantly surprised.
Jack Cooper, who has amassed 52 million ‘likes’ on his travel content, stopped by what he described as the “bougiest” KFC restaurant he’s ever seen.
“Honestly, I could have my wedding here,” he joked.
In the clip that’s clocked almost 1 million views, Jack heads straight to the self-serve stand where he orders seven menu items worth 98,184 Indonesian Rupiah — about $10.
“All right, I am starving guys, let’s get straight into it,” he says as he bites into a piece of fried chicken.
“Oh that’s good. The chicken itself tastes exactly how it does in Australia. I don’t know if that’s common sense or not?” he asks.
He then went in for something Aussies may find surprising to see on a KFC menu — a bucket of spaghetti called Spaghetti Deluxe.
“It’s very interesting to me because I wouldn't eat spaghetti with chicken, or would I?” he questions himself.
“Yeah I would. Would I? Is that a thing?” he asks viewers.
“I’m sorry.. WHAT? SPAGHETTI ?!?!?? At KFC WTF,” a shocked viewer added.
One woman was quick to point out that in her culture “spaghetti and chicken is a thing”.
Jack then moved onto the chicken pops, likening the taste to chicken nuggets, but “in ball form”.
He also ordered a KFC cream soup and was immediately taken down memory lane.
“I don't know what it is, but this soup kinda (sic) tastes like a core memory — like my mum definitely made me something like this when I was young,” he said.
He finally got to the fish burger and was frothing over how good it tasted.
“I don't know what sauce they’ve put on this but whatever it is, we don’t have in Australia and it’s so good. Oh my God,” he gasped. “This is really good.”
One person commented that the KFC chicken in Bali is “low-key” better than the chicken in Australia.
“The chicken pieces are much bigger than Australia,” another added.
A third wrote: “KFC is so fancy in Bali.”
Meanwhile, others were left shocked by the affordable price tag.
“Did u (sic) say all that was basically $9 in AUD ummm wtf!!” one person wrote. “All that cost cheaper then a meal...”
It comes as Sydney woman Lisa Wenban revealed the international KFC burger she hopes to see Down Under, following a surprise trip to Tokyo.
She won a trip to Japan’s capital city as part of the fast food restaurant’s ‘Kentucky Fly Chicken’ campaign.
The campaign, which runs until March 18, will see a handful of Aussie fried chicken fans travel to certain destinations around the world and experience KFC in a foreign land.Ms Wenban, who is a self-confessed fried chicken addict, was the first of the competition winners to travel abroad — and revealed there was one burger while visiting Tokyo that she hopes will make its way to our shores.
“I had the Wafu Cutlet Burger, which was like a crumbed chicken fillet, teriyaki sauce, cabbage and mayonnaise on this super soft bun,” the 32-year-old told news.com.au.
“I 10 out of 10 wish we had it here.”
