The best day to fly to save cash this Christmas revealed
FRUSTRATED at the high prices of air travel around the Christmas holidays? Here’s the way around it.
TRYING to find the cheapest flight for Christmas travel this year? According to this travel expert, you can save cash by flying on Christmas Day.
Webjet has revealed that travellers can save up to $80 per person one way by taking an international flight on Christmas Day and $30 on domestic flights.
But flying on Christmas Day doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the festivities, often a domestic flight will have you at your destination in time for lunch. For example, a Qantas flight leaving Sydney at 810am arrives in Perth at 10.05am thanks to the time difference and a flight leaving Brisbane at 825am arrives in Adelaide at 1135am.
The most apparent savings were found on trans-Tasman flights. Flying on Christmas Eve to Auckland will save you $30 while taking a flight on Christmas day will save an extra $50.
December 22 was found to be the most expensive day to travel to Auckland with flights an average of $479 one way.
“With a large number of Australians trying to get home for Christmas or get away for New Year’s Eve celebrations, flight prices tend to skyrocket but we’ve found there is a way to save over the most expensive time of year,” says John Guscic, Managing Director of Webjet Limited.
“Flying on days like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve could mean considerable savings.”
The savings were also found for Australians flying in to Sydney on New Year’s Eve, saving an average of $35 compared to flying in on the days prior.
