Sydney hotel launches feature that will win over every parent
A popular hotel in Sydney has announced a new offering for guests — and it’s a welcome addition for anyone with kids in tow.
A Sydney beachside hotel has listened to the cries of holiday-deprived parents around the country, and introduced a new feature that’ll satisfy both adults and kids alike — and just in time for the sugar-fuelled Easter period.
In a bid to give parents some much-needed time out, and allow the kids to remain completely entertained — Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach has announced a “Sydney hotel first” by launching an internal ‘Kids Club’ attached directly to their accommodation premises.
The new club, which the chain claim to be a “first” for the harbour city, allows parents to essentially drop their kids off like any other ‘Kids Club’ facility normally associated with cruise ships or larger overseas resorts.
While initially launching the clubs over the Easter period, it is understood the hotel will look to extending the service into the April school holiday period and perhaps beyond.
“A lot of parents think they have to fly to Bali or Fiji to find a hotel Kids Club, and they certainly wouldn’t imagine finding one in Sydney,” General Manager, Melinda Lampier said in a statement.
“We wanted to change that and give parents the chance to really relax and get some down time over the Easter period.”
The hotel, which overlooks the stunning Coogee beach coastline, will offer two childminding sessions on bother Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. The two sessions, being between 2pm and 5pm as well as 5.30pm and 8.30pm, will cost just $10 per hour, per child, aged 5 years and over. Bur if you’re dining at one of the hotel’s two restaurants (being the stunning oceanview Shutters or the moody dinner spot of Estate) — access to the club will be complimentary.
According to Ms Lampier, guests of the club will have access to games, sport, dancing, movie nights as well as arts and crafts — all while under the watchful eye of qualified and fully-checked childminding staff.
“As the General Manager of a family-friendly hotel and a mother of twins, I intimately understand the juggling act parents face when planning a holiday,” she explained.
“It’s about striking the right balance between keeping the kids entertained and having the opportunity to relax and enjoy. Recognising the scarcity of Hotel Kids Clubs in Australia, we identified a significant gap in the market. It’s rare to find a place where parents can confidently leave their children while they take some well-deserved time to recharge.
Ms Lampier said the addition of a Kids Club was a “game-changer” for the hotel, finally allowing parents some down time away from the little ones.
“It can be challenging to fully indulge when the kids are in need of entertainment,” she told news.com.au.
“That’s where our Kids Club comes in. It provides parents with the precious opportunity to play tennis, savour a glass of wine, or finally finish that book that’s been on hold for months. “With the children happily engaged in supervised activities, parents can truly make the most of their time with us, creating cherished memories for the whole family.”
Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach is the perfect local stay for those who are craving a beachside escape this Easter period, but don’t want to face the hassle of travelling interstate or out of town for the weekend.
Having completed a multimillion-dollar refurbishment in 2020, the hotel has everything you would need for the whole family – starting with a stellar location just footsteps from the beach and local restaurants, oversized rooms with balconies and a stunning pool area.
Some of the rooms have completely uninterrupted views of the coastline, with plenty of space for a cot if you’re bringing a little one along.
At the time of reopening the revamped hotel, Area General Manager, Gareth Long, said the redesign was to not only cater for the family market — but also put the property back on the business radar.
“In terms of location, the Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach is second to none,” he told The Hotel Conversationadding the renovation included a purpose-built events centre, 10 new flexible meetings spaces, state-of-the-art technology and new event dining concepts and menus.
