Royal Caribbean Cruises has opened a stunning private island resort called CocoCay

It’s the island resort that hopes to create the “perfect experience for every traveller”. But going to this piece of paradise comes with a catch.

Cruise Ships: The most luxurious rides on the planet

Royal Caribbean Cruises have opened their exclusive new private island in the Bahamas — and the first photos look incredible.

Perfect Day at CocoCay features the tallest water slide in North America, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool and a helium balloon attraction that will give guests the best view of the Bahamas.

But there is a catch — you can only get there on a cruise ship.

CocoCay is the first of five private islands belonging to Royal Caribbean to be unveiled to the public as part of their Perfect Day Island Collection.

The idea is to create every passenger’s dream holiday on a single island.

There’s a huge family-friendly water park, a chill out lagoon and plenty of outdoor pool space.

The new Thrill Waterpark features a number of attractions that break records, including Daredevil’s Peak, the highest waterside in North America.

But if that’s a bit too much for a young family, you can also try one of the 12 other slides as well as the splash pool for kids.

The Thrill Waterpark will also be home to the largest wave pool in the Caribbean and an adventure pool that’s equipped with an obstacle course.

Elsewhere on the island, there’s 1600ft (488 metres) of zip line that will take you across the island and a helium balloon experience that will offer incredible views of the Bahamas from 450ft (137 metres) in the air.

And if you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, there are also lagoons and outdoor pools around the island.

The Oasis Lagoon features a swim up pool with lots of loungers for you to relax on, and even a swim-up bar.

There’s also a family-friendly area that’s suitable for younger children.

Chill Island will be all about the beach, with activities such as jetskiing and snorkelling.

CocoCay will also have overwater cabins — the only ones in The Bahamas — that will be part of Coco Beach Club, opening in December 2019.

Each of the cabins will have its own slide into the ocean, an overwater hammock and dedicated attendant.

Plus, there will be a huge 2600ft (792 metre) infinity pool for the perfect Instagram shot.

Some of the experiences on Perfect Day at CocoCay will be free to cruises but others will incur and additional fee.

Full day experiences at the Thrill Waterpark cost between $44-$99 while Zip Line and the Up, Up and Away helium balloon will cost extra as well.

Half day entries are also available, with wristbands allowing guests to enter and exit the park as often as they like.
