P&O CRUISES has added Papua New Guinea to its Pacific destinations for next year, with Pacific Dawn sailing from Brisbane to Milne Bay, where it will visit the capital Alotau, as well Doini Island and the Trobriand Islands.
The PNG sailings cost from $1049 a person, quad share, for a nine-night cruise, with the maiden cruise in October next year timed to coincide with the Canoe and Kundu Festival, where communities compete in canoe races, costume display and cultural performances.
P&O's 2013-14 program, on sale this month, features 73 departures across 22 itineraries, with Pacific Jewel and Pacific Pearl cruising from Sydney.
Other highlights include more weekend getaways and short breaks, with 21 cruises of less than a week. Short-break cruises start at $529 a person, quad share, for a three-night cruise from Sydney. Pacific Islands cruises start at $1099 for nine nights.

SET sail on Princess Cruises' range of new Discovery Deals to Europe, offering travellers savings of up to $1800 a stateroom on itineraries booked by June 30.
The offers include a 12-night Greek Isle escape on Crown Princess, departing Rome on November 20, from $1240 a person twin share, and a 12-night Grand Mediterranean journey on Ruby Princess, departing Venice on August 22, from $1740 a person twin share.

Feel like royalty
ROYAL Caribbean International's 2013 Europe season will feature five of the world's largest cruise ships with 121 sailings on 25 itineraries.
Liberty of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas will join Independence of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas in European waters, with features ranging from the DreamWorks Experience (Liberty), an ice-skating rink (Navigator) and self-levelling pool tables (Serenade).
Deals include a seven-night Eastern Mediterranean cruise sailing on September 8 next year, priced from $865 a person, twin share, with calls at Sicily, Ephesus, Athens and Chania; and a seven-night Western Mediterranean cruise sailing on September 22 next year, priced from $1035 a person, twin share, with calls at ports on the French and Italian rivieras.

APT has added Antarctica to its South America 2013 small group holidays, which carry a maximum of 28 guests. An 11-day Antarctica trip using the specialised expedition ship Akademik Ioffe has been added to APT's 20-day The Very Best of South America in a package priced from $22,595 a person, twin share.
Land contact includes cities and ancient sites of Argentina, Chile and Brazil, while features of the Antarctica cruise are the wildlife at Half Moon Island, such as a colony of chinstrap penguins, kayaking and an opportunity to camp overnight. Early booking incentives are offered in the South America 2013 brochure, which has 11 packages from 21 to 36 days.
