What you need to know about Jetstar’s free flights

THE budget airline is offering $0 flights on popular holiday routes for a limited time. Here’s what you need to know.

IT’S the airfare sale that sounds too good to be true.

In celebration of its 13th year of flying, Jetstar is offering the holy grail of air travel: free flights.

Right now, the budget airline is offering 300,000 of free seats on return flights from 83 Australian and international destinations.

Amazing, right? It well could be — as long as you take a second to read the conditions attached.

The free flight is the return flight, and you will still have to pay for the departing flight.

So if you wanted to fly from Melbourne to Honolulu, for example, you’d have to pay for your seat on the Melbourne to Honolulu leg, and get the return flight free.

The $0 flights are available for selected domestic and international routes on specific travelling dates. The travel periods are July to December this year, and January to March 2018. And be careful with public holiday and school holiday dates, as availability is limited.

And here’s the other kicker — checked baggage isn’t included in the $0 flights, so if you’re hoping to nab a cheap international holiday, make sure you’re happy to fork out extra for your suitcase.

Some of the routes on the return for free deal include Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City, Melbourne to Honolulu and Melbourne to the Gold Coast.

As part of the birthday sale, Jetstar is also slashing costs on other general airfares, including flights to Bali, Queenstown, Honolulu, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, plus domestic routes.

Sale fares much be purchased on Jetstar’s website and are available until 11.59pm on Wednesday or until sold out.
