Tourists are embracing the ‘dwon under’ style
WHAT message will this send tourists about Australia? Surprisingly, they don’t seem to mind the mistake.
A SOUVENIR is meant to be a nice memento of a holiday well spent. But what lasting memory will this souvenir give tourists about Australia?
A patriotic jumper has made its way into souvenir shops across Sydney with a huge typo. Instead of welcoming tourists to our great southern land down under, it welcomes our guests “Dwon Under”.
One vendor told Nine Network’s A Current Affair it was a difficult task to have the “limited-edition” jumper corrected by the manufacturers, so instead the company just advised retailers to knock the price down — to the bargain price tag of $10.
Surprisingly, many of the tourists interviewed in the segment didn’t seem to notice. The jumper still managed to stand out for all the right reasons — the picture of the iconic kangaroo. And when it was pointed out to them, they found it amusing.
Even those who did notice the typo weren’t that bothered.
“Some people recognise (the typo) but they don’t mind because it’s a good piece anyway,” one shopkeeper told A Current Affair.
It is the limited edition Australian souvenir fail that has tourists under its spell anyway.
