Qantas' huge international flight sale has return North America flights from $999

Qantas and Jetstar have just launched major sales on international fares — and if you’ve been flirting with the idea of a trip to the US, Canada or Japan, this might be the sign you've been waiting for.

This week, Qantas has kicked off a seven-day sale in partnership with American Airlines, offering discounted return fares to six of the most popular cities in North America.

Jetstar’s also come to the party with some seriously tempting one-way fares to Japan that start at prices cheaper than a night out in Sydney.

Here’s what’s on offer — and why now’s a pretty savvy time to hit ‘book’.

Qantas North America sale — fly return from $999

There are hundreds of thousands of discounted seats on offer, and you’ve got until Tuesday May 27 to make your move — or until they sell out.

Travel dates start from August 2025 and run through to March 2026, which gives you plenty of wiggle room for that white Christmas in Canada or sunny Californian adventure.

“We know our customers really look forward to our international sales and over the last few weeks we’ve launched sales across Asia and the Pacific Islands as well as to Johannesburg and London,” Qantas CEO International Cam Wallace said.

“Our US sale in March this year had a fantastic response and we’re pleased to be offering customers more discounted seats to destinations across the United States and Canada, in partnership with American Airlines.”

Qantas is offering hundreds of thousands of discounted seats across flights to six popular holiday destinations, as Australia’s airline price wars heat up.

Economy return sale fares

Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Honolulu – $999

And if you’re up for a more comfortable journey:

Premium economy return sale fares

Qantas premium economy and business are also on sale.

Honolulu – $2,399

Business class return sale fares

Honolulu – $5,699

Jetstar’s Japan sale is also looking good

Qantas’ low-cost sibling Jetstar is also slinging some super cheap fares — this time to Japan. The one-way deals (excluding checked baggage) are available now and end 11.59pm AEST Friday May 23, unless they’re snapped up sooner.
