Topping the list of most bizarre items is the mini bar at the W Retreat and Spa in the Maldives, which stocks a custom designed bikini by beachwear brand Heidi Klein, featuring silver chrome detailing and a special swimwear fitting service.

For the more extravagant, the Water Library at Trump International Hotel in Chicago stocks a Swarovski crystal adorned water bottle known as Bling H20.

For the more saucy guests, the Playboy-owned Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles stocks Alexander Wang-designed condoms, and The Delano in Miami has its very own "intimacy kit", containing condoms, lubricant, spermicide and towelettes.

The Mondrian in Los Angeles offers guests fairytale memorabilia with a custom designed Alice in Wonderland hand mirror, complete with shatterproof glass at $25 a pop.

Other weird and wonderful mini bar items include Voodoo Love Dolls at Omni Royal Crescent in New Orleans; Pink Duct Tape at Custom Hotel in Los Angeles, and oxygen canisters at Bayan Tree Ringha in China, in case you get altitude sickness at the 10,500ft high hotel.
