Aldi’s $99 suitcase sale is the best thing ever
Aldi has pushed designer luggage brands off their podium with its sleek, cheap luggage range — and people are racing to snag one.
Who knows why, but we all love them.
We love touching them (do you like yours hard or soft?), when we find the right one, we love partnering up with them for life, even travelling to the ends of the earth with them. And today, we can get them cheap. Dirt(y) cheap.
Australia’s favourite discount supermarket, Aldi, has just dropped another suitcase sale bonanza in its Special Buys sale, and it’s the brand’s two piece Skylite set we’re lusting after, at $99.99 for the pair.

$80 ALDI SUITCASE IS THE ULTIMATE BARGAIN
Its features list is impressive with smooth rolling spinner wheels, strong lockable zippers, expandable main compartments, dependable locks, and padding. The 70cm larger suitcase and 55cm smaller one are light, have aluminium retractable trolley systems, and if you’re the-more-the-merrier type, the small suitcase can slide itself on top of the large — come one, come all!
Aldi’s range of suitcases are famous for taking on the bigger, more expensive brands. In the past, comparison site Choice found Aldi’s suitcases to be on par with uber-luxe luggage brand Samsonite.
Choice gave Aldi’s popular $40 56cm Spinner an overall score of 86 per cent yet only awarded the $329 Samsonite 55cm Spinner just one per cent more at 87 per cent. Money can’t buy love.
If you’ve already met The One and your suitcase needs are met, then fear not, there’s even more travel paraphernalia waiting to fly off the shelves.
Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are blowing our hair back at a measly $69.99, the Executive Backpack will only set you back $39.99, and the Travel Accessories Pack containing a travel wallet, leather wallet, mini travel bag, passport wallet, shoe shine kit, manicure set, handkerchief set or toiletry bag is going for just $14.99. We’re not quite sure how you can get so much for only $14.99 but it seems you can, so smile and nod.
The thing is, these sales are absolute pandemonium — everyone wants in. Kate Brown, personal finance expert at Finder says of the hype, “Aussies love a bargain, so it’s no wonder Aldi sales attract such a crowd.”
And Kate’s tip on how to come out on top with these sales — “it’s always wise to make a list so you don’t overspend. Set yourself a budget, browse the catalogue and have an idea of what you’re prepared to buy. This will also lead to a speedier exit.”
So there you have it. Big things are coming today — we’ll see you at the sale, meeting our future suitcase partner.
