Virgin Australia announces mammoth sale with fares from $49

Heading into summer, there’s no better time to gear up for a quick holiday before Christmas — especially when fares are less than $50.

As the weather warms up, so does the flight sales — with Virgin Australia the latest airline to drop a bunch of cheap seats in preparation for the summer season.

The airline’s network sale will see some fares from as little as $49 one way, including to destinations such as Hamilton Island, Gold Coast and Perth.

Some of the highlights include Sydney to Ballina/Byron Bay with fares less than $50 one way, Brisbane to the Whitsundays from $79 and Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast starting from $109.

But if you’ve got your eyes locked on a destination further afield, several overseas destinations are also on sale until 28 October.

Getting to New Zealand (specifically Queenstown) from Melbourne will set you back from $405 return, while the Gold Coast to Bali sneaks in under $500 return and Melbourne to Fiji for less than $600 return.

Virgin Australia Executive, Libby Minogue, said the sale — and the cheap fares — highlight over one million fares on offer.

“We are encouraging Aussies to get in early and snap up a bargain fare to amazing holiday

destinations such as Queenstown, Bali, Fiji and domestic hotspots like Hamilton Island, Perth and Gold Coast,” she said, noting the sale including flights for travel between 25 November 2024 and 30 June 2025.

“It is not often our entire network is on sale and we are committed to delivering great value fares so Australians can experience the wonders of Australia and our international destinations.”

Earlier this week, rival airline Jetstar announced a mammoth sale for Club Jetstar members, with fares as little as from $26.

The exclusive Club Jetstar member-only on offer until tonight only, with 26,000 one-way domestic fares to snap up.
