Qantas launches mammoth sale with overseas fares under $500
While winter has come knocking, with temps starting to dip around parts of the country, a new overseas flight sale plans to heat up Aussie travel plans.
The temp is starting to dip around parts of the country, making now the perfect time to find that ideal sun-seekers escape.
It’s no secret that when it comes to white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters — Fiji and even Vanuatu often top Australia’s must-visit list.
And now, our national carrier has dropped a new international sale — meaning flights to some of the more sun-soaked locations this winter are cheaper than ever.
Qantas said the major international sale, with discounted fares starting at just $499, highlights some of the airline’s most popular routes.
The airline said some of the locations — including Fiji, Vanuatu and Palau as well as Honolulu and Johannesburg — are all part of the one-week sale.
Economy return sale fares start from $499 on flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Noumea, while Perth to London has fares from $1,749 and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide to Johannesburg from $1,699.
And, if Fiji is on your must-visit list this winter, fares out of Sydney will set you back less than $600 return or just shy of $700 from Brisbane.
The sale fares include checked bags as well as complimentary food and beverages, with selected travel dates between 11 May and the end of March 2026.
More Coverage
The sale comes as the airline has quietly switched on wi-fi on select international routes, as reported by The Australian.
It is understood a technical issue pushed back the launch of Qantas’ free wi-fi service on board some international services from late last year until March 2025.
Qantas confirmed to news.com.au that customers are seeing increased coverage on select routes across Asia operated by A330-200 aircraft, and that for the next phase of the airline’s international wi-fi rollout — coverage on trans-Tasman flights will happen mid-year with other routes to follow later in the year.
