Qantas launches mammoth Asia flight sale including Bali and Japan

Dust off those passports, because some of Australia’s favourite international destinations have been slashed in a mammoth sale.

Just when you thought the summer sun was starting to simmer, an overseas flight sale has been launched — with red hot deals to some of Australia’s favourite destinations.

Off the back of Qantas’ North American flight sale earlier this month, the airline has dropped massive discounts on flights to major Asia destinations, including Bali and Japan.

With more than 80,000 discounted seats to eight destinations across Asia on offer, some of the standout fares would be the Perth to Singapore from $519, or Adelaide to Bali from $619 return.

Some of the other popular international destinations include Tokyo, Manila and Hong Kong. The sale marks the airline’s third international deal for 2025, with another international sale in February and slashed fares to North and South America last week.

The sale, which will go for seven days, includes checked baggage, meals, beverages and entertainment.

Travel dates will fall between April 19, 2025 and February 28, 2026, meaning the high-demand dry season in Bali is included.

Qantas CEO of International Cam Wallace said the sale couldn’t come at a better time for Australians.

“Today we are launching sale fares to some of our most popular destinations right across Asia, including Tokyo, Manila, Bangkok and of course our most in demand route, Bali,” he said.

“The last two sales were incredibly popular, so this is a perfect opportunity for anyone who missed out on a sale fare to book their next international trip and explore Asia.”

Closer to home, rival airline Virgin Australia has announced a mammoth domestic network sale, with some fares starting from as low as $45.

Targeting the Sunshine State, the airline’s Queensland airfare sale will last for just three days only.

Following severe weather events across the state, the airline said this event aims to drive visitation and support local tourism operators in their recovery.

Some of the highlighted fares include $45 one-way from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast, $55 one-way from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, and $79 one-way from Sydney to Cairns.

The Queensland focused sale runs from 27 March to 29 March 2025, for select travel dates between 1 May and 30 June 2025.

Tourism and Events Queensland’s, Ollie Philpot, said Virgin Australia’s sale event is a crucial step in getting visitation to the Sunshine State back on track.

“This is a great opportunity for Australians to book that much-needed getaway while directly supporting tourism businesses impacted by recent severe weather,” Mr Philpot said.

“We’ve seen fantastic demand for the first round of sales from our airline partners, and now Virgin Australia has stepped up to the plate with a major airfare drop. We expect these fares to be snapped up quickly.”
