Qantas announces $99 flight sale for domestic routes
In response to states and territories reopening domestic borders ahead of Christmas, another airline has slashed the cost of certain fares.
Just days after reshuffling the airline’s overseas routes to accommodate the new date for international travel, Qantas has announced a string of fares a little closer to home for less than $100.
Dubbed the ‘Great Escape Sale’, thousands of discounted fares from $99 have been released – which are all-inclusive and will be on sale until next Monday.
Including a snack and 23kg of luggage, some of the standout routes include Sydney to Melbourne, Sydney to Ballina, Brisbane to Hervey Bay and Melbourne to Launceston.
With parts of Australia having reached 70 or 80 per cent first jabs, borders are starting to open up in a way the country hasn’t seen in more than 18 months.
With travel dates falling between November 5, 2021 and March 31, 2022, including the Qantas Fly Flexible policy – consumers can fly with confidence, especially given state leaders have assured residents that lockdowns will become a thing of the past once a jurisdiction reaches the 80 per cent vaccination rate.
“With vaccination levels across the country on the rise and restrictions starting to ease,
Australians are looking forward to being able to explore everything that their own backyard has to offer once again,” a Qantas spokesperson said.
“There is a significant pent-up demand for domestic travel and with The Great Escape Sale,
Qantas is offering discounted fares to make it even easier for people to book and holiday and
reunite with their family and friends.”
The sale comes as both Jetstar and Virgin Australia released respective sales to coincide with Freedom Day in NSW.
