Passenger’s bizarre plane act goes viral
An airline is “looking into” a bizarre situation that took place on a recent flight that left passengers baffled – and it’s not the first time.
A video of a woman laying in the overhead compartment of a budget airline is being investigated by the carrier.
Last week, footage of a woman on-board a Southwest Airlines flight went viral on TikTok after she had tucked herself into the luggage compartment of the plane above rows 12 and 13.
Footage of the bizarre situation was captured and shared to TikTok where it clocked more than 5 million views before it was deleted.
It showed the woman looking directly into the camera as she lay curled up next to a suitcase as a flight attendant is heard welcoming passengers on-board the flight.
According to Storyful, the flight was heading from Albuquerque in New Mexico to Phoenix in Arizona on May 6.
A spokesperson for the US carrier told news.com.au “we’re aware of the video and looking into it”.
Details on what may have motivated her to climb up there remain unknown, however, it’s not the first time something like this has happened on the airline
In 2019, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant was also spotted laying inside the overhead compartment.
The flight was heading to Philadelphia from Nashville with the staffer’s act leaving passengers “perplexed” by what they were witnessing.
According to a short video taken by passenger Veronica Lloyd, the flight attendant was resting on her side and stomach, with her feet hanging out of the compartment.
“It was very interesting,” Ms Lloyd told Fox News at the time.
I canât get over how weird I find this. @SouthwestAir please get it together pic.twitter.com/bEHkMMgGXU

“I think she was doing it to try and be funny and make the passengers laugh.”
The cabin crew member was in the overhead locker for “a solid 10 minutes”, according to Ms Lloyd, who said when she came out, she was “very nice for the remainder of the flight”.
Southwest said in a statement to Fox News that its employees are known for their sense of humour.
“Southwest employees are known for demonstrating their sense of humour and unique personalities,” the spokesperson said.
“In this instance, one of our flight attendants attempted to have a brief moment of fun with customers during boarding.
“Of course, this is not our normal procedure, and Southwest crews always maintain safety as their top priority.”
