Kmart has just dropped the “ultimate” travel item — and while it may look a bit strange, shoppers swear by it.

We all know how difficult it is to get some sleep when we’re flying, especially if we’re stuck in the middle seat.

Unless you’re super lucky and manage to get a whole row of seats to yourself, chances are you’re not going to get much shut eye.

But this is where Kmart comes in. Earlier this year, the retailer introduced a new range of travel accessories and among them is the ‘Inflatable Front Travel Pillow’.

While shoppers have pointed out its “awkward” design, they’ve also taken to social media and to the retailer’s website to rave about how good it is.

“It takes less than a minute to inflate and less than a minute to deflate,” TikToker Lala Tuiga said in a clip.

“It comes in a pouch and it fits in your bag nice and easy.

“I used it, my son used it, my mum used it at one stage of the flight and it’s very comfortable.”

The $18 pillow is designed in such a way that it allows your head and neck to lean forward naturally.

You just need to inflate it, pop it on your knees and rest your hands through it while leaning forward.

“Yeah it is awkward looking but actually is really comfortable and perfect for long plane rides,” one customer wrote in the reviews section of the site.

“Blows up very easy and also easy to deflate. A little tough to get back into the carry bag is my only complaint.”

Another confessed while she still only got minimal sleep, “I think that was more me rather than the pillow”.

“So many different ways to sleep on it which I loved and only takes a couple of breaths to inflate,” she continued.

“Packs down probably smaller or similar to a basic travel pillow with the nice little bag. Can’t complain, it did a very good job.”

A Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au the pillow has been a “huge hit” given its affordability compared to others on the market.

“We are seeing customers seeking more budget friendly travel products to make their travel experiences complete,” the spokesperson said.

“The inflatable front travel pillow is the perfect item for a long or overnight flight, and is able to be used in multiple positions for ultimate comfort.

“It comes in a small pouch which is easy to store, and inflates and deflates very easily.”

When it’s inflated it’s 48cm in height and 30cm in width.

“This travel pillow is able to be used in multiple positions so that the anyone can relax in a position that suits them, no matter where they are in their travel journey,” the spokesperson added.

Another fan who purchased it for a long-haul flight also said it was easy to inflate and deflate. “Light weight, folds flat. Used for part of the flight and was able to sleep,” they wrote on the Kmart site.

“Haven’t taken on plane but tested at home and it’s comfy. Now I just need a holiday!” another wrote.

Meanwhile, the retailer also got rave reviews for its $15 seven-piece packing cubes.

It’s designed to help maximise space in your suitcase, with a bag for underwear, skincare, toiletries and electronics.
