Aussies stoked to be stranded in Bali, as #StuckinBali takes off
THERE are worse places to be stranded. While some Aussies are cursing that they’re stuck in Bali due to an ash cloud, others are living it up.
AUSSIES have begun trickling home from Bali as the ash cloud around Denpasar Airport clears enough for flights to take off.
But while some are railing that they’ve been stuck on the Indonesian island, others are celebrating an unexpected extended holiday. The #StuckinBali hashtag has become popular on Instagram and Twitter as travellers post idyllic shots of themselves stranded on the holiday isle. Many are even praying to the volcano gods to let them stay longer.
More than 850 people flew to Australia from Bali yesterday when conditions improved, despite continued eruptions from Mt Rinjani in Lombok.
Jetstar has indicated it plans to operate all services to and from Bali today if the ash cloud steers clear. In addition, the airline will bring back 2200 customers on 11 recovery flights.
Virgin Australia issued a statement saying flying conditions in the vicinity of Denpasar Airport are favourable today for daytime operations. Nightime operations are still under review.

Australian Joanne Hogan told news.com.au that they’re stranded in Seminyak, a beach resort area on the southern end of Bali.
”We were meant fly out last night back to Sydney on Jetstar but we haven’t had any email of text from them.”
“We took out travel insurance so were just going to keep on holidaying, so for us it’s not a big deal because my friend Stephen, that I’m travelling with, is self-employed and I’m between jobs. We’ve got a big list of local restaurants to hit up.”

But some Aussies in Bali are not so positive about the situation.
Every time I get an email I pray it is @jetstarairways putting me on a recovery flight. It never is. #stuckinbali #eightdaysstuck
