Aussies lose it over $20 Kmart plane item
Aussies have discovered a handy $20 Kmart plane hack, describing it as a “game-changer”.
Aussies travellers have gone crazy for a $20 Kmart item, describing it as a “game-changer” for long flights.
Shoppers have taken to social media to share clips of the retailer’s inflatable seat extender, saying it’s the perfect item for kids when flying.
A Kmart spokesperson said the item hit stores in August last year and has quickly gained popularity for its “clever design and travel-friendly convenience”.
“This affordable, compact cushion fills the gap, offering extra space and support for a more comfortable flight or even road trip,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.
The inflatable item, used to extend seat length, is “easy” to inflate by mouth and equally as easy to deflate, according to the retailer.
“This was a game changer flying with my three-year-old on a red eye flight!” one Aussie mum said in a TikTok while showing off how she set up the seat for her toddler.
The Aussie, who currently lives in Bali and goes by the name Atalata, was travelling on a Fiji Airways flight when she used the item.
Her clip immediately garnered hundreds of comments from viewers eager to nab the $20 product.
“Nice idea! was about to order one for $100 something online. heading to Kmart now!” one person wrote.
“These are great,” another contested, while a third added: “That’s a life saver when we took a 22-hour flight. We were comfortable the whole time and it was so easy to inflate and deflate.”
One person said they had been waiting for the item “to come to Kmart so I can use it on the window seat”.
“I didn’t expect to see it and was almost going to buy one for $110. So much better,” Atalata said.
Some questioned what happens if the person infront reclines their seat, to which the Aussie mum said: “Person in front reclined and still didn’t get close thankfully”.
However, not all carriers allow inflatable seats, with passengers advised to contact airlines on their policy.
Others noted it’s great for road trips too.
“Works awesome on car too,” one person wrote.
The Kmart spokesperson described it as a “smart, budget-friendly solution for long journeys in the sky or on the road”.
“We love seeing how our customers are using the product in their everyday lives,” they said.
“With more travellers seeking ways to maximise comfort in cramped seating, this product is quickly becoming a go-to travel must-have.”
