‘$35 flights’: Jetstar’s mega domestic sale begins

Jetstar has announced it will slash the prices of more than 200,000 airfares in a new flash sale — with tickets starting at just $35.

Jetstar has announced it will slash the prices of more than 200,000 domestic airfares as part of a new flash sale — with tickets starting at just $35.

The Mates’ Rates Sale launched at midnight on Thursday and will run for just six short days.

It comes just in time for travellers looking to snag a cheap winter holiday, with some tickets for popular routes on sale for just $70 return.

The flights on offer, which cover dates between mid-July and mid-December this year, include Sydney to Byron Bay from $35, Launceston to Melbourne from $39, Newcastle to Gold Coast from $47 and Melbourne to Sydney from $38.

Sydneysiders can fly to Hamilton Island from just $79, while Melbourne residents can enjoy a break on the Sunshine Coast from $69. Flights from Brisbane to Uluru start at just $99.

Other headline deals include Sydney to the Sunshine Coast from $55 and Melbourne to the Gold Coast from $59.

Carry-on luggage is included in the price of the fares.

The sale officially began at midnight on Thursday and ends at 11.59pm on Tuesday, June 20 or until seats are sold out.

The sale even includes holiday packages, so travellers can pick up flights and accommodation for a single discounted price.

Included in the holiday deals are a three-night trip from Melbourne to Uluru — staying at the Desert Gardens Hotel, where kids stay free — from $508 per person.

Newcastle residents can pick up a three-night holiday at the IHG Hotel on the Gold Coast from $364 per person. Sydneysiders can escape to a three-night rainforest retreat on the Sunshine Coast from $860 per person or to Byron Bay from $843 per person.
