British Airways luxury first class suites available mid 2011

BRITISH Airways have announced it's luxurious new first class cabins will be available in the next couple of months.

BRITISH Airways have announced it's luxurious new first class cabins will be available in the next couple of months.

The cabins come amenities such as a personal concierge and Egyptian cotton sheets.

Designed to allow passengers to "work, sleep, eat and be entertained in a way that matches their premium lifestyles and expectations."

The suite is 12 inches wider than its predecessor and cost $159 million to design and build.

British Airways are in the process of rolling out the changes to their first class fleets, and have said that "as more aircrafts are fitted with the new First Class, we can expect to see it more often on Australian routes"

The expected completion time is mid 2011.

Passengers will be treated to a personal concierge through the airline’s "Quintessentially" service, and a private wardrobe with space to store shoes.

A turndown service will be offered by cabin crew, who will lay out a 200-thread count Egyptian cotton mattress, and a 400-thread count duvet and pillow.

As well as extra space available to work, television screens will more than double in size to 15 inches, with each suite also offering a USB charging port and an RCA jack so passengers can view content from their MP3 platers on the television screen.

New lighting inspired by the private jet industry sets the mood for the trip, and each passenger will now have their own electronic window blind so they can control the amount of light in their suite.

"The new moodlighting system not only integrates the various cabin lights, but also the wash lights on the personal electronic blinds and the suite ambient light, to create various scenes throughout the flight," Richard d'Cruze, British Airway's Customer Experience Development Manager, said

Breakfast lighting will be "crisp and fresh, lunchtime will reflect soft midday sunshine and the warm feeling of candlelight will be used in the evening".

"The moodlighting system is one of the most sophisticated fitted to an aircraft," he said.

The ability for customers to eat what they want, when they want, remains a key principle for the first class dining service.

You can take High Tea in the afternoons, inspired by iconic London hotel The Dorchester. For lunch and dinner there’s a la carte dining complete with white linen tablecloths and fine bone china, or a bistro option.

When it comes freshening up, the airline will supply a range of wellbeing products from D.R. Harris & Co, including "eye gel, lip balm and moisturiser, all enclosed in a stylish Anya Hindmarch bag, exclusively designed for First".

And to top it all off, each first class passenger will now be allowed three items of luggage, weighing up to 30kgs each.
