This tiny Australian island has been crowned the most beautiful airport landing in the world. Do you know where it is?
Travel insurance provider AllClear analysed 32 airstrips around the world, ranking the beauty of each based on how quickly and how long each runway held participants’ attention. Picture: iStock
Lord Howe Island’s runway ranked first. It’s 11km long and up to 2km wide, making it one of the shortest in Australia, measuring 886 metres.
The next most beautiful airport landing is Queenstown Airport in New Zealand with a score of 79.
Coming in third – Madeira Airport in Portugal. Pictured is a Boeing 737 making the final turn to land at the notoriously challenging Funchal airport.

Rio de Janeiro–Santos Dumont Airport nabbed fourth place with a score of 76.
British Airways airliner at London City Airport. The runway also came in fifth place with a score of 76.

Paro Airport in Bhutan scored 72.
