‘How dumb can a person be?’: Bodybuilder defends ‘stupid’ plane engine stunt
A Sydney bodybuilder has defended a wild viral stunt which saw him climb into a moving aeroplane engine for some push ups.
A bodybuilder has been forced to defend himself after a video of him doing push-ups in a moving plane engine went viral.
Preslie Ginoski jumped into the engine of a commercial jet on the tarmac of Sydney Airport before doing push-ups and flexing.
The 23-year-old filmed the video last year but posted it on social media over the weekend before the clip went viral.
But the man copped a clip from Sydney Airport, who released a statement slamming the stunt.
“Sydney Airport has zero tolerance for unsafe behaviour on the airfield, and we take all reports of potential safety breaches extremely seriously,” a spokesperson said.
The video has since been taken down from TikTok, despite receiving more than 2 million views, due to violating community guidelines.
Mr Ginoski spoke to the Daily Mail, claiming the clip hadn’t been taken how he intended.
“I just wanted people to get a laugh about it,” he said. “Like it’s (as if) I’ve just got off the plane and I’m going to work out.
“The plane was parked on bay and wasn’t moving until the next day.”
He added that the concerns came from TV news reports that he’d climbed into “an operating aeroplane jet engine”.
However, he suggested the engine was in fact off and just appeared to be moving due to wind.
“A lot of people have missed the fact that it was totally safe,” he told the publication.
“There’s a lot of confusion about the fact that it was moving in the wind.
“Flight attendants and pilots always sit in the engines, it’s just because they’re taking photos that the turbines look stable.
“But it’s very common for people to sit inside the jet engine if it is cleared and safe to do so.”
Mr Ginoski filmed the video in June last year when he had been employed by the airport but decided to share the clip after he left the role.
The clip was met with plenty of scorn online with fans blasting Mr Ginoski.
One said on Facebook: “Stupid move it wouldn’t take much for that engine to turn him into mince meat.”
Another added: “The moment where starting the engine would also become quite famous on TikTok…”
A third posted: “How dumb can a person be to try a stunt that dangerous & how was he able to get that far?”
Others blasted the “influencer culture”.
“See what social media is making people do,” a fourth wrote.
