The Matices Hotel de Barricas in Mexico is a hotel located among a tequila distillery in a town that’s literally named Tequila.
And not only is there plenty of the good stuff to drink, you can actually sleep in a giant tequila barrel — complete with a mini bar.
The town of Tequila, about 45 minutes from Guadalajara in Mexico’s west, is the only place in the world allowed to officially produce the spirit.
The hotel is connected to a working distillery in an agave field — agave, as tequila connoisseurs know, being the plant used to make the Mexican beverage.
The establishment offers tours of the distillery, including tastings, and the opportunity to design your own tequila bottle.
And if you’ve had a few too many on the tour, the good news is you don’t need to venture far for a comfy rest.
The giant barrels for guests, while a little quirky, feature modern amenities and offer beautiful views of the agave field.
For a next-day meal, there’s the local restaurant that’s actually located underground, which could be good for avoiding the sunlight if you’re feeling a little dusty.
And if you’re a real tequila nerd, there’s an on-site museum where you can learn more about the spirit.
Salud!
