The small rural town lies 150km north of Wellington, near Palmerston North on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island. You’ll know you’ve reached it when you see the welcoming sign: “Herd of Bulls? A town like no udder.”

And it just gets worse — or better — from there. There may be more bull puns than the number of residents, which is about 1600.

The town hall is called “Soci-A-Bull”, the church is called “Forgive-A-Bull” and the medical centre is called “Cure-A-Bull”. However, the first place to head once you arrive should be the information centre, Inform-A-Bull.

You’ll probably be hungry from your trip so they will direct you to The Mothered Goose cafe, also known as Delect-A-Bull — but not before you withdraw some money from the Bank-A-Bull and go to the Relieve-A-Bull public loos.
