Cruise ship timelapse: The quickest way to see New Zealand’s most stunning scenery
IF you’d love a trip to New Zealand but barely have a minute to spare, here’s the speedy way to marvel at its spectacular scenery.
IF you’d love a trip to New Zealand but barely have time for a coffee, let alone a holiday, here’s the quick way to do it — a 13-night voyage around the country squeezed into a spectacular time-lapse video.
The ship’s-eye view was filmed on the 108,000 tonne, 2600-passenger Golden Princess as it cruised the country’s stunning Fiordland, visiting ports from Auckland, Tauranga, Gisborne and Wellington on the North Island to Akaroa and Dunedin in the south.
Five cameras, including one with a 360-degree lens, were set up on board during the journey by Sydney-based timelapse photographer Filippo Rivetti.
“I love the sea and it’s just fantastic to see New Zealand’s coastline from a cruise ship: you wake up every day at sunrise arriving at a new port and new experiences await. And you can’t beat cruising through a majestic fjord like Milford Sound — that experience will always remain with me,” Rivetti said of the experience.
Princess Cruises’ 2017-18 program, launched this week, features a new round-trip cruise to New Zealand from South Australia, adding to its existing journeys from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
“Cruising really is the best way to see a country like New Zealand and this year alone we will sail on more than 22 cruises across the Tasman. Our guests love the experience, so we decided to share it with others,” Princess Cruises Vice President Australia and New Zealand Stuart Allison said.
